A: The Selective Asset Long-Biased Equity Hedge Fund is available to investors who reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec.
The minimum subscription amount is $150,000 in all of these jurisdictions, unless you meet the definition of "accredited investor" under National Instrument 45-106 Prospectus and Registration Exemptions.

Q: What are the fees for Selective Asset Management's Hedge Funds?

A: The management fee is 2.0% with a 20% performance fee on returns above our benchmark, which is a 6% annual return. Register with SAMI to obtain a copy of the Fund’s Offering Memorandum for more details.


Q: Explain the investment objectives and investment approach of the Selective Asset Long-Biased Equity Hedge Fund.

A: The investment objective of the Fund is to achieve better absolute returns and a higher frequency of out-performance compared to North American equity indices through the active purchase and sale or shorting of a portfolio consisting primarily of equity or equity related securities.
Using a disciplined approach, based on a quantitative model covering ALL sectors, investment decisions are primarily based on a growth at a reasonable price management style that seeks to identify stocks that are undervalued or overvalued (as applicable) relative to their growth prospects. Using this approach, earnings growth, forecasted earnings, analyst’s earnings estimates, stock price performance and technical analysis will be balanced by asset growth factors such as return on equity, value criteria and earning variability factors. Q: If I invest in the Fund are my assets guaranteed to grow?

A: Past performance is no guarantee for future results. However, the investment objective of the Fund is to achieve better absolute returns and a higher frequency of out-performance through a disciplined and consistent approach.


Q: If I want or need to, when can I take my money out?

A: Your funds are required to remain invested for one year, after which you may cash out should you wish or need to. However, you must provide Selective Asset Long-Biased Equity Hedge Fund LP with thirty (30) days’ prior written notice in order to do so. Therefore, the minimum time required is 13 months (one year invested, plus 30 days’ notice of redemption). On redemption the Limited Partner (investor) is entitled to be paid the net asset value per Unit of a Series multiplied by the number of Units of the Series the Limited Partner has asked to be redeemed determined on the Valuation Date following the expiration of the 30-day notice period. Q: Robert McWhirter, Portfolio Manager of the Fund, is known as a Technology sector fund manager. Is the Fund only invested in the Technology sector?

A: The Selective Asset Long-Biased Equity Hedge can invest in ALL sectors of the market using the disciplined fundamental approach and the12-factor quantitative model, which is the investment foundation for all the funds Mr. McWhirter manages. Mr. McWhirter manages other Funds on behalf of NexGen Financial including: NexGen Canadian Dividend and Income, NexGen Canadian Growth, NexGen North American Small/Mid Cap and NexGen Canadian Growth and Income. SAMI also manages the Northwest Specialty Innovations Fund.


Q: What sort of reporting do you provide investors regarding their holdings within the Selective Asset Long-Biased Hedge Fund? Can I get the information electronically or is it mailed to me?

A: We provide clients with quarterly written personalized performance statements produced by our Fund accountants SGGG Fund Services Inc., which are sent to clients by Canada Post mail. In addition, every month we send via email a monthly market commentary that includes the Fund’s performance results. In addition, we post updated results on this web site every month.
